Candidates tell us we have a very different approach to the interview process. The number of times we hear “This is not at all what I expected” is almost daily. So let's walk through the process and become familiar with the experience candidates can anticipate.

First, for sure, your work history is important - but it is not the most important issue to us initially. Out of the gate, as it were, we are more interested in the way you think, carry out tasks and handle problems and pressure. This thing, which many people refer to as “fit,” is paramount to the work we do. So it is not unusual to go through several interviews with our firm before the possibility of meeting our client is considered.

As well, we tend to be almost embarrassingly secretive. Discussing the identity of our client, even if, on the surface, there seems to be no reason to withhold the information, is not our policy. And while such an approach might seem unusual, we do have our reasons. And we would be happy to discuss those reasons with you in person.

At first glance, this approach could be viewed as somewhat uncomfortable or intimidating. Candidates advise us, first hand, that such is not the case. They definitely view the process as different, but not difficult. In fact, most indicate just the opposite. As an aside, there is no advance preparation required for meeting with us. In fact, a resume is frequently not required.

In addition, because of our recognized expertise, clients expect us to have a very large “say” in choosing the successful candidate. In fact, in a great many cases, we have the final word. Once again, different? Maybe. Uncomfortable? No.

As well, there will be times when, as a candidate, you will be meeting with us, the recruiting company, but you will also be meeting the client at the same time.
